Race Results 2016

Inaugural CandleLight 12 Hour were held on July 23, 2016. 67 individual and 3 relay teams lined up at the start line at 7PM. Temperatures at the start times were close to 80s then they dipper into mid 50s throughout the night. Skies were clear and race participants experienced beautiful sunset, spectacular moon-rise, long anticipated sunrise. Race participants were stalked by two feline course marshals throughout the night.

Overall winner was Western NY ultra running legend Todd Baum with 62.02 miles, Kristy Storie was female overall winner with 55.04 miles - it was Kristy's first ultra win. Second place female Jen Lacey had the same total mileage as Kristy but she was only 3 minutes and `29 seconds slower than Kristy. Women's race had three runners within the same mileage and 3 minutes separating each other with about an hour to go until Sarah Dean decided to drop out after reaching her goal mileage.

There were handful of first time age group winners at this race - Ultra rookie Frederick Crimsons won Open Male division covering 55.64 miles and Jen Lacey was Open Female winner with 55.64 miles as well. Chris Hobart was Masters Male winner with 58.78 miles and Tracy Buttars was Masters Female winner with 46.01 miles. Patrick McHenry was fastest Veteran Male with 54.57 miles and Karen Marcus was Veteran Female winner with 46.01 miles. Relatively new to the ultra distances Karen seems to be making habit of winning Veteran division at timed ultras. Western NY ultra staple James Miner won Super Vets with 54.57 miles and first time AG winner Wanda Schubmehl took home trophy for winning Female Super Vets division with 40.66 miles.
